Looks to be a 83.5-85 1.9l, the first of the watercooled Vanagons.

With the pop top, but no kitchen (hence the lack of water/power hookups and flue) that would make this one a '84 or an '85. (they had campers earlier, but introduced this version in '84)

They called this the "Weekender" and it just had a closet in the back, a pop and a single, rear-facing jump seat behind the driver. The back seat folded into a bed, and It also came with a optional 12v ice chest that sat behind the passenger seat.

The audi badge is interesting. Not sure if being silly or if they have one of the few 5cyl audi swaps people have done (Subaru is most popular, followed by VW ABA, then Zetec.

I also don't think that color was ever offered with a pop-top. I also think that color of blue was only offered in earlier years. The decals that ran down the sides and under the grill indicate that this could have been some weird custom model (like the Trek/Fender VWs), but I can't find it.

It is Audi swapped. What engine, I couldn't tell you.

Curious choice. There are very few choices that still allow for the stock engine cover (which allows the bed to lay flat)

Yeah, I'd never heard of the Audi swap.
